White Midi Dress

Happy Saturday everyone! I hope y’all have had a great weekend so far. I know many of you attended a graduation ceremony or two, and have spent the weekend preparing for Mother’s Day. Sadly, I will be spending Mother’s Day in Raleigh without my mom, but I do get the chance to volunteer at my church here in Raleigh for the first time which I’m super pumped about! Anyways, I’ve been dying to share this post with you guys ever since I shot it back in April, but things have been so crazy I’m just now getting around to it.

So, I’ve never really given midi dresses much of a chance, because I just didn’t think I could pull it off! I’ve always assumed you have to be a pretty tall person to wear one but recently discovered you don’t have to be! I’ve swooned over so many of them for some time now until I finally decided to give this one a shot. Being that it’s only $24 made it all the more enticing to try! I’m 5′ 5.5″  (5’6″ if you round-up), which I’d say is an average height, and I love the way it looks on me! This dress has such a simple elegance about it. It’s like having a blank canvas you can dress up with fun jewelry, a cool hairstyle, and bomb shoes (which is what I did here)! A pair of heels and a sleek up-do could dress up this entire look. Honestly, you can’t go wrong!
Well that’s a wrap for today’s post! I hope I’ve inspired a few of you to try out a midi dress for yourself. They are just so classy and elegant.

A Gift For Grads

Tomorrow I will be attending my oldest sister’s college graduation ceremony, and it has me thinking about how quickly time flies the older we get. For those of you who do not know, my sister and I are best friends and are fairly close in age. We often find ourselves explaining to our youngest sister that the reason we are so close is because we went through many of the same experiences together causing us to grow together even more. I’m sure most people can attest to the fact that when you endure hard times, sad times, or even fun times with someone, it bonds you together like nothing else can. So, as I watch her prepare for the next phase in her life and make many scary adult decisions, that feel so foreign for a person our age to be making, I find myself wanting to make time stand still. For both her sake and mine, because I know my turn will be soon to follow.

I suppose all of this real life stuff is inevitable no matter how hard we try to slow time down. So we might as well embrace the new with open arms but remember to enjoy our usual routines while we can. After all, time has a wonderful way of showing us what really matters -Margaret Peters. Like family, memories, experiences, love, laughter- to name a few.

The first gift that comes to mind with all of this talk about time is a watch. JORD Wood Watches allows for a unique, personalized, and special gift for the graduate in your life! For a graduate, this gift marks the end of one chapter and the beginning of next. For you, it’s about reminding them that time is important but what is more important is what they do with it. You can find my exact watch by clicking here. Also, I’ve teamed up with JORD Wood Watches to host a GIVEAWAY! All you have to do is click here and you’ll automatically receive a $25 gift code and be entered to win a $100 gift code as well. Both will expire on July 31st! Good luck!

My Favorite Black Denim Shorts

Happy FriYAY people! What a crazy week it’s been. Post-vacation +  pre- finals= a very unsettling combination. It made the unpleasant task of returning to reality just that much harder! It’s all good though, because I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. This semester I have all of my finals the first week of the examination period. I’m sure it’ll fly by and then hellloooo summer! (insert sunglass wearing emoji)
So, you’ll have to excuse me but Madd Inspired will be flooded with vacation pictures for the next couple of weeks! I mean can ya blame me? There’s nothing more fun than planning outfits for a long overdue vacation, so I might’ve went a bit overboard, but that’s okay because many of the looks I’ll be sharing are versatile for several occasions.
Today, I wanted to share this adorable, all black look with y’all just so that I could tell you guys how AWESOME these high-waisted denim shorts are! Not kidding, as soon as I put them on all I could think about is how comfortable they were. If you haven’t noticed yet I am all about some high-waisted shorts/pants. To me, they are much more comfortable than low rise shorts. So, these shorts in particular are from Fab’rik (the Raleigh location) but are the “Just USA” brand so many other shops may carry them too. I love how these are a tad bit longer than most of the other high-waisted shorts I’ve tried in the past! Let’s face it people, no matter how good you may think it looks, shorts that ride up your booty are simply uncomfortable! I love these ones so much I purchased them in white too, and I’m heavily considering buying the regular denim style (I’m wearing a size small for reference).
Another positive thing about these bomb.com shorts is they look good with literally everything. I simply chose to pair a black and white stripe off-the-shoulder top (old) with my favorite sandals and volià! You now have a stylish and comfortable outfit that’s perfect for any daytime occasion or even a casual date night! Honestly, there aren’t many places I wouldn’t wear this look, but I happen to be a not-so-fancy person too.
Well, that’s all folks! I hope y’all have a fabulous weekend! Please, feel free to comment with any questions or if ya just wanna chat 😉

Happy Earth Day everyone! It’s been a little while since my last post, but today just so happens to be a special occasion… Not only is it Earth Day but it just so happens to also be my BIRTHDAY!! (WOOOOOOO) I just got back from a much-needed relaxing week with my family in the Florida Keys, so its safe to say I’ve had a wonderful birth week (I’ll take whatever excuse I can get to vacation)!

This year is the big 2-0 for me (hence the title). I know a lot of people think that 20 doesn’t have much significance, because everyone focuses on the year that follows also known as 21, however, for me turning 20 is a really big deal! All I can think is I’m officially no longer a teenager, which means I’m officially an adult (insert scary horror movie music). Now I know what your thinking, how dramatic of me, but seriously, it’s a little nerve wrecking. Twenty means I’ve finally entered adulthood which ultimately means a lot of adult-like decisions are coming my way and fast! It’s not all scary though. All in all, I feel thankful to be 20 years of age. Aging can be a little intimidating at times but it’s also a blessing in disguise. I’m sure we can all vouch for the saying the older the wiser.
Each year I get older the more perspective I gain on things I never even considered before. I’ve decided, in my twenties, I’m going to live my life to the fullest (even if it’s a bit scary), spread more kindness (it makes the world go round), and love myself more.
In honor of turning 20 on I thought I would share 20 “fun facts” about myself that you may or may not already know! And in honor of Earth Day I’m sharing a few photos I took this past week in Key Largo, Florida!

1. I’m a morning person

2. I really really want roller blading to come back into style

3. I love ketchup on my potato chips, and fries on my burgers

4. If you haven’t noticed yet I’m an awful speller

5.I have a terrible fear of spiders (I don’t even use the word- we call them “s’s”

6. Watching people dance brings me so much joy because people who dance uncontrollably could careless what others think of them!

7.With that being said I’m a horrible dancer, so that’s another reason to be envious of people who can dance well

8. I tore my ACL my senior year of High School while playing soccer just a few days before our first playoff game

9. I have consistently clammy hands (lol)

10. My ankles make a cracking noise when I walk

11. I hate football! (my unpopular opinion, I know- I just don’t have the attention span for it)

12. My first job was working as a cashier at Domino’s pizza. I’m pretty sure I gained weight that year because we got a killer discount and who doesn’t love pizza?!

13. My zodiac sign is a Taurus. The description matches my personality perfectly!

14. I don’t really care for hamburgers unless they are from McDonald’s (another weird one I know-I promise I’m not a picky eater! I actually like most foods)

15. I am the middle child of 3 girls

16. I eat chocolate chip Pillsbury cookies almost every night. I’ve never had a sweet tooth until the last year!

17. My birthday is on Earth Day and Earth Day is on my birthday! (now read that again but sing it this time!) I made that song up when I was young. Lame? Or creative? I’mma go with both on that one!

18.Happy Feet is one of my favorite movies

19.I hate scary movies but love sour candy!

20.One of the last times I went scuba diving I got stung by a jelly fish (like squishy on Finding Nemo) and my sister got stung by fire coral!

That’s All! I hope y’all found those “fun facts” somewhat interesting or at least a little funny!
Love Always,
