July 4th in Gingham

In just a few short days all of America will be celebrating Independence Day! This means beach time for some and cookouts for others, but either way you choose to celebrate this holiday you’ll probably be caught wearing red, white, or blue! Once I became a student at NCSU, I quickly learned that red is not my color. It simply doesn’t suit me. So, I decided to take a break from all the white I’ve worn lately and opted for a little blue instead! Since gingham has been trending for yet another summer I thought I’d add a little more to my wardrobe. Plus, there’s just something about gingham that screams summer to me!

I actually found this exact dress in Charlotte, NC, at Vestique boutique on sale for $20! Technically, it’s an off the shoulder dress, but I get sooooo annoyed with those things that I opted to wear it on my shoulders instead. It’s personal preference of course! I recently purchased my espadrille sneakers from Tj Maxx for only $30, and they are so comfy! I think this look would be super cute with espadrille sandals or even platforms as well.

There are so many routes you can go when planning the perfect July 4th look! I’ll link a few of my favorite looks for several different festivities below under “Shop This Look”. So, how are y’all spending July 4th this year? I’m headed to the beach with the fam! Praying I’ll get nice and tan for a change. Working in doors all day has done nothing for my summa time look!

Love Always,
Maddie

Spring Denim Style

Today, I wanted to share two different ways I styled my denim jacket for the springtime! I’ll be honest, at first, I didn’t feel the need for a denim jacket in my wardrobe. It wasn’t until I was browsing around the Forever 21 in Wilmington, NC, and saw this one on a mannequin, that I fell in love! I knew I had to have it because I could see the endless possibilities of fun looks I could create with it in my wardrobe. I love the embroidered design on the back too. Looking straight on you would never guess the back of the jacket looks like that! It’s a cool sort of surprise, and adds a little character to a classic look. Also, the fit it awesome! I’ve never been a huge fan of denim jackets, because all the ones I’ve tried are super stiff but this one is not.

The first look is more feminine, but by adding the denim jacket it makes it more casual. If you haven’t figured it out yet casual is always a word I would use to describe my style! This adorable white tiered sundress is from Asos  and is even more precious in person. I’m wearing a size two for reference (but could’ve done a zero too)! Oh and it comes in yellow as well! You can style the dress with sandals or even your favorite sneakers and it would be just as cute. I’m just having a major flatform moment right now!

For style two I had to go for the denim on denim look! Any kind of tie or knot in your clothes, shoes, or even your hair is so popular at the moment. So, instead of my usual front tuck I opted for a front knot! I added a lace bralette, a rose gold necklace, and my favorite platform sandals as the cherry on top of my look!

I hope I’ve inspired y’all on the denim jacket front! Oh & Happy Friday!

Love Always,
Maddie

White Midi Dress

Happy Saturday everyone! I hope y’all have had a great weekend so far. I know many of you attended a graduation ceremony or two, and have spent the weekend preparing for Mother’s Day. Sadly, I will be spending Mother’s Day in Raleigh without my mom, but I do get the chance to volunteer at my church here in Raleigh for the first time which I’m super pumped about! Anyways, I’ve been dying to share this post with you guys ever since I shot it back in April, but things have been so crazy I’m just now getting around to it.

So, I’ve never really given midi dresses much of a chance, because I just didn’t think I could pull it off! I’ve always assumed you have to be a pretty tall person to wear one but recently discovered you don’t have to be! I’ve swooned over so many of them for some time now until I finally decided to give this one a shot. Being that it’s only $24 made it all the more enticing to try! I’m 5′ 5.5″  (5’6″ if you round-up), which I’d say is an average height, and I love the way it looks on me! This dress has such a simple elegance about it. It’s like having a blank canvas you can dress up with fun jewelry, a cool hairstyle, and bomb shoes (which is what I did here)! A pair of heels and a sleek up-do could dress up this entire look. Honestly, you can’t go wrong!
Well that’s a wrap for today’s post! I hope I’ve inspired a few of you to try out a midi dress for yourself. They are just so classy and elegant.

Love Always,
Maddie

A Gift For Grads

Tomorrow I will be attending my oldest sister’s college graduation ceremony, and it has me thinking about how quickly time flies the older we get. For those of you who do not know, my sister and I are best friends and are fairly close in age. We often find ourselves explaining to our youngest sister that the reason we are so close is because we went through many of the same experiences together causing us to grow together even more. I’m sure most people can attest to the fact that when you endure hard times, sad times, or even fun times with someone, it bonds you together like nothing else can. So, as I watch her prepare for the next phase in her life and make many scary adult decisions, that feel so foreign for a person our age to be making, I find myself wanting to make time stand still. For both her sake and mine, because I know my turn will be soon to follow.

I suppose all of this real life stuff is inevitable no matter how hard we try to slow time down. So we might as well embrace the new with open arms but remember to enjoy our usual routines while we can. After all, time has a wonderful way of showing us what really matters -Margaret Peters. Like family, memories, experiences, love, laughter- to name a few.

The first gift that comes to mind with all of this talk about time is a watch. JORD Wood Watches allows for a unique, personalized, and special gift for the graduate in your life! For a graduate, this gift marks the end of one chapter and the beginning of next. For you, it’s about reminding them that time is important but what is more important is what they do with it. You can find my exact watch by clicking here. Also, I’ve teamed up with JORD Wood Watches to host a GIVEAWAY! All you have to do is click here and you’ll automatically receive a $25 gift code and be entered to win a $100 gift code as well. Both will expire on July 31st! Good luck!
